Causewayhead Chiropractic is owned and run by Allison Macdonald – BA (Hons) Sports Studies 1991, BSc (Hons) Chiropractic 1999, MSc Chiropractic 2000, DC (Doctor of Chiropractic) 2001.
Allison is a Stirling girl, born and bred - who graduated with a degree in Sports Studies from West Sussex in 1991, during which time she wrote a number of peer reviewed papers, and presented at conferences with her work in sports psychology. After travelling the world for a year, she came back and decided on a career in healthcare, with the ultimate aim of helping people to get better in a way which utilised natural healing and incorporated continuity of care.
She thought it really important that people were given more information about their conditions and the tools, i.e. Exercises, postural/desk/sports technique changes - to help themselves.
Allison attended the prestigious Anglo-European College of Chiropractic (AECC) in Bournemouth for the next 5 years and after many gruelling hours of study graduated in 2000 with a Master’s degree in Chiropractic.
She then began to work in Kirkintilloch and has spent many happy years there improving her practice and taking a great interest in many facets of chiropractic that involved rehabilitation and getting people back to being their best! These have included the fields of whiplash injury, sports and chronic pain.
In the last 6 years Allison has also been practising in Bridge of Allan and has trained in Cranial Mobilisation Techniques after her own son was diagnosed with a ‘flat head’ and was referred to a cranial therapist with wonderful results. This has led to incorporating fascial release techniques which are a very gentle and effective approach to joint and soft tissue problems, particularly of long term duration, which complements her established chiropractic practice.
Outwith her practice, Allison enjoys nothing better than being in the great outdoors - running, walking and cycling with her family and their dog – not to mention the odd bit of open water swimming!
Allison is registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC) and is a member of the British Chiropractic Association (BCA).
Allison is also registered with most major health insurance providers including AXA, Aviva etc.
